The mind is a wondrous thing. We cannot see it; touch it or feel it but it controls everything that we do; say or feel. It is responsible for our interpretation of the environment by the feedback from all of our senses. Yet what is the mind ?
It is our virtual consciousness !
It is our organiser and interpreter of the environment that we are currently living in. It controls our mood; feelings and thoughts. It can be the most powerfully creative thing in the human body, or the most destructive. When used well it can achieve great goals but when left to it’s own devices can wreck havoc on itself or the people and environment around you.
So who or what controls the mind ?
Each of us has full control over our mind, what it thinks and does, and what mood it puts us into. We sometimes forget that we have the controls to reign it in, when it gets out of hand, or to let it explore when it’s being creative. We can each “decide” to interpret a situation in a different way, by re-association of a bad thought with a good one. Sure it needs practice to re-program our mind, but it can be done.
How do you control your mind ?
That’s a very good question isn’t it ?
We all experience life in a different way, even if we experience the same situations and locations. Life presents us with a plethora of choices every day, and we have to make constant decisions about which of those choices we go with and ones that we decide not to go with. Do we get up now when the alarm has just gone off ? or do we bury ourselves under the covers for another 5,10,20 minutes ? When we drive to work, we make thousands of decisions on our travels, even if it’s over a short distance. How fast should I go?; How close to the car in front should I be? Should I stick up one finger to the driver that just cut me up ? etc etc.
If somebody says something to us that we either do not like or agree with, we have choices. Our mind is in control, and we control our mind. Do we ignore the person?; argue an opposing view ?; or put on a fake smile and agree with the persons’ comments? No decision is necessarily the correct or incorrect one, but we have to make a decision as part of a life choice.
It is the choices that we make or don’t make in our lives, that shape our lives, our fortunes or our happiness. It is up to us all to make these choices carefully and use the control of our mind to give us the best outcome. Bad choices can be detrimental to our health and wealth.
